Adelaide skipper Taylor Walker believes there are a few contenders to fill the void left by star defender Jake Lever.

Lever starred for the Crows in 2017, making the All-Australian squad of 40, but made a high-profile move to the Demons in this year's trade period.

Walker told Triple M's Dead Set Legends there are three likely candidates to fill the void next season.

"You saw what Alex Keath could do, (as well as) Kyle Cheney," he said.

"A young guy that played really consistent (footy) through the SANFL last year was Tom Doedee.

"He's tough as nails, Tommy Doedee, and reads the ball really well and (he's) very courageous.

"There's three blokes that could potentially slot in there for Jakey Lever."

Keath made his debut this season while Doedee is yet to do so since being drafted with pick 17 in the 2015 AFL draft.

Cheney is on the other end of the spectrum, with the 28-year-old playing 77 games across his career.

Two other names were raised as a possible shift to half back: Curtly Hampton and Wayne Milera.

"Those plays could probably play back there, more for Brodie Smith," Walker said.
