Gold Coast have been the weary wanderers of the AFL this season, not being able to use their home ground at Metricon Stadium for the first 10 weeks due to the Commonwealth Games.

In that time they’ve played home games in places as diverse as Cairns, Perth and Shanghai.

They’ve also played away in Perth, Adelaide, Ballarat and Melbourne.

All up the Suns have travelled 38,360 kilometres in the first 10 weeks of the season — just under 2,000km short of the circumference of the Earth.

The figure includes a 3524km round trip to Cairns, 3418km to Melbourne and back, 8686km on a Perth trip — luckily they stayed there for the week before their game the next week instead of going back to the Gold Coast — a 4096km Adelaide jaunt, 3518km to Ballarat and back, two 158km round trips to Brisbane and of course a 14,802km flight to Shanghai and back.

Fair to say they’ll be looking forward to the home surrounds of Metricon Stadium when they host Geelong this weekend.
