The Rising Star Award Now Has An Unbackable Favourite

Young-gun Hawthorn defender Ryan Burton is now firmly the bookies favourite to take out this season’s Rising Star Award.
The second-year Hawk, who played four late season games in 2016 before a calf injury in their qualifying final against Geelong finished his season early, has enjoyed a breakout year in 2017.
Burton has played in every match for the Hawks since round 2 and has been heavily credited with their season resurgence over recent weeks.
Nominated for this seasons award after a standout game against the Crows in round 2, Burton’s match-winning performance against the Crows again in round 14 and his dominant display against the Magpies on the weekend has seen his odds slashed.
Crownbet currently has Burton as their $1.62 favourite to take out the illustrious award, with Essendon’s number one draft selection Andrew McGrath ($4.00) and Port Adelaide’s Sam Powell-Pepper ($5.00) the only players anywhere near him.
If he does take home this season’s Rising Star Award, Burton will be the first Hawk to do so since Sam Mitchell in 2003.
