Now that Round 1 is underway - and all 18 teams have been named - Collingwood's 2016 trade period officially looks a bit dodgy.

To quote the AFL website, here is the off-season Collingwood had that earned them a verdict of 'D+':

IN: Daniel Wells (North Melbourne, unrestricted free agent), Chris Mayne (Fremantle, unrestricted free agent), Lynden Dunn (Melbourne), Will Hoskin-Elliott (GWS), picks 44, 51, 62, 105, 2017 third-round selection (Brisbane Lions)

OUT: Nathan Brown (unrestricted free agent), Travis Cloke, Marley Williams, Jarrod Witts, Jack Frost, picks 47, 2017 second-round selection, 2017 third-round selection

Wells and Mayne, in particular, were brought in on long-term deals that were heavily questioned at the time.

And now that the dust has settled, Collingwood must be doubting some of the calls that were made in October.

The Magpies team that has been named tonight only features one player that was traded in - Hoskin-Elliott - with Mayne and Dunn listed as emergencies.

Wells is still injured with an unknown return date.

As for the 'outs'; Brown (St Kilda), Cloke (Western Bulldogs), Williams (North Melbourne) and Witts (Gold Coast) have been named as starters for their respective clubs.

Only Frost (Brisbane Lions) will not be playing this weekend, but one would comfortably assume he would have been if it were not for a one-week suspension received in the JLT Community Series.

Collingwood play the Western Bulldogs at the MCG tonight to kick off the 2017 season.
