Richmond skipper Trent Cotchin is in some strife and could miss a grand final after a bump on Dylan Shiel that saw him taken out of the game with a delayed concussion.

...But was it really Cotchin that concussed him?

Vision has emerged of an incident later in the first quarter of Richmond's win over GWS involving Shiel that could prove pretty useful in Cotchin's defence.

Shiel, who stayed on the field after the initial hit, was involved in a passage of play with seconds left in the term.

He was chasing a ball on the wing when Tigers defender David Astbury also collected him in the head, more than 20 minutes after the Cotchin hit.

Of course, Shiel wasn't seen after quarter time, meaning the Tigers could have a case to make that the concussion wasn't actually caused by Cotchin, instead by Astbury.

That could then lower the intent on whatever the match review panel sees in the Cotchin hit.

In the most hotly anticipated match review panel of the season, this bit of footage could certainly sit in Cotchin's favour.
