Heading to the footy on Friday for Hawthorn/Sydney? Good luck.

After 19 degrees on Wednesday, the Bureau of Meteorology is predicting the maximum to reach a miserable 13 on both Thursday and Friday.

With that cold front comes rain. And lots of it.

The Bureau is tipping one to six millimetres on Wednesday night, five to 15 millimetres on Thursday, a whopping 25 to 80 millimetres on Friday and a further four to 40 millimetres on Saturday.

The rain's not going to hold back, heading Friday night's clash at the MCG isn't looking so flash.

The city could well and truly see 100 millimetres fall across the back half of the week, on current forecasts.

It's a level of rain we haven't seen for a while.

"That's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard." Luke Darcy wasn't a fan of Nic Naitanui's one-match ban.
