The Western Bulldogs have handed down Bob Murphy and Matthew Boyd's old numbers ahead of the 2018 season among nine jumper changes.

Murphy's number 2 has been passed on to young defender Lewis Young, who previously wore 33 on debut this season.

Boyd's number 5 has been handed to young midfielder Josh Dunkley.

"Words can’t desribe how honoured I am to wear the number 5 guernsey going forward," he wrote on Twitter.

"Such a rich history which hopefully I can add to."

Of the recruits, Jackson Trengove will take on number 8, Hayden Crozier will wear 9 and Josh Schache will don the number 13.

The draftees have also received their numbers, with Aaron Naughton taking on the number 33 previously worn by Young, while Ed Richards will wear Dunkley's old number 20.

Callum Porter will wear number 28 and rookie Billy Gowers will wear number 26.
