There Is A Chance Every Game Could Be At The MCG In The First Week Of The Finals

We've crunched some numbers!

We've done some number crunching and it could create a scheduling nightmare for the AFL with four finals potentially having to be played at the MCG on the opening weekend of the finals series.

If the following results come through in Round 23 it will see four Melbourne based clubs host home finals:

- Collingwood to beat Fremantle (at Optus Stadium)

- Sydney to beat Hawthorn (at the SCG)

- Melbourne to beat GWS (at the MCG)

- Brisbane to beat West Coast (at the Gabba)

Although it is unlikely, if all of these results fall into place it will see Richmond finish 1st, Collingwood finish 2nd, Hawthorn finish 5th and Melbourne finish 6th.

All of these sides call the MCG 'home', with no clear option to be moved to Etihad Stadium.

This could force the AFL schedule a Thursday night, Friday night, Saturday night and Sunday afternoon final at the MCG.

West Coast losing to 15th placed Lions looms as the biggest threat to seeing this come to fruition, but we're playing devils advocate!

Jay Clark says that the AFL could reassess how it hands out priority picks.
