The Northern Footy League is one of the better local comps in Victoria.

It’s home to North legend Boomer Harvey and 2014 Goal of the Year Matthew White amongst other ex-AFL players.

It’s also home to a side with probably the most unique nickname in footy — Epping Football Club, aka The Pingers.

The Pingers have been playing in the NFL since 1933, when the competition was called the Diamond Valley Football League.

The Pingers won their first flag the year they entered the comp, and have picked up another five division one premierships along the way along with three division two flags to be one of the most successful clubs in the league.

More recently the Pingers had found their way to the third division of the competition, but was promoted to the second grade in the off-season after Lalor requested to be relegated due to player retention issues.

The Pingers currently sit 6th of eight sides in division two, having picked up one win from their opening five fixtures of the season.

You can check out the Pingers’ website here, and their Facebook page here.
