Speaking to Triple M Footy after the game, Bellchambers said he and his team mates were angry about the hit and stood up for their team mate.

“It’s obviously a part of footy you know, and we wanted to fly the flag,” Bellchambers said.

“We didn’t agree with what happened, I saw the incident and I think it was good of the boys to get over there and fly the flag for one of our more important players.”

Bellchambers said he was “super angry” about the incident.

“I was super angry, yeah. You don’t like seeing that kind of thing on the football field,” Bellchambers said.

“Greenwood obviously was tagging him and yeah I didn’t like it so it was, as I said, good for the boys to fly the flag I thought.”

Greenwood’s physicality hd no bearing on the result, with Bellchambers’ Bombers running out 18.9 (117) to 12.8 (80) winners at the MCG.

The win leaves Essendon in 10th, one win out of the eight, while Collingwood slipped to 15th.
