Hot Breakfast footy reporter Tom Browne says that Collingwood and Brisbane will play a Dayne Beams grudge match on Easter Thursday in 2019.

“It looks like Collingwood and Brisbane, in a bit of a Beams game if you like, will play on… Good Friday Eve,” Browne said.

“On Good Friday I believe that will be North and the Bombers, the AFL are being a little bit coy on that scheduling just at the minute.”

Easter backs on to the Anzac Day round this year, with footy being played on 11 out of 12 days across rounds five and six.

This means that Collingwood and Essendon have to play on the Thursday and Friday of the Easter weekend to ensure as long as possible a break for their traditional Anzac Day clash.

Anzac Day falls on a Thursday this year, with Easter Thursday exactly a week before it.

Browne also said that the season opener looks like being Carlton and Richmond for the 12th consecutive season.
