Tom Bugg has spoken to the media following his 6-week suspension from the tribunal.

"I take responsibility for my actions," Bugg said.

"I fully accept the sanction that has been served."

"I'm feeling very embarrassed and going forward I've got a lot of work to do to earn back the respect of my captain, my fellow players and my coaches."

When asked if he had spoken to the victim of his punch, Callum Mills, he said that he had apologised since the incident.

"He did accept my apology," Bugg said.

"I'm very close with Angus Brayshaw (teammate) and he's been through concussions, so I see how it affects the families."

"So my call to Callum was very genuine to see if he was OK and if his family were travelling OK."
