Geelong forward Tom Hawkins has addressed his jumper punch on Matt Crouch in last night’s game against Adelaide at Simonds Stadium.

The big Cat was involved in a bit of argy-bargy in the second quarter before appearing to hit Crouch high while holding a fistful of the Adelaide midfielder’s jumper.

Speaking to the ABC, Hawkins said he didn’t think he’d gotten Crouch high.

"I felt like on the night it was a bit of push and shove and I got him in the chest," Hawkins said.

"In no way did I intend to hit him high.

"I suppose it's out of my hands now."

Hawkins and the Cats will be sweating on the Match Review Panel’s decision on Monday, with the Cats’ next assignment a trip to Domain Stadium to play West Coast after the bye.

Geelong won the game against Adelaide 13.18 (96) to 10.14 (74).
