Collingwood defender Tom Langdon could be out the door, with Sydney confirming their interest in the 24-year-old.

Langdon, who starred for Collingwood late in the season and in the 2018 AFL grand final, is out of contract.

He has only recently received a contract offer from the Pies, but has also since received some attention from the Swans, flying to their headquarters for a medical on Tuesday.

"He flew to Sydney yesterday and had a medical," Sydney head of football Tom Harley told reporters.

"We spoke to (Collingwood's list manager) Ned Guy about that on Monday, so we've been transparent with Collingwood.

"I think the incumbent club's always got the whip hand in that sense. We're just waiting for the finer details from that medical at this stage."

Harley said it wasn't just his standout finals series that won their attention.

"I think (Langdon's) obviously had a good first four years to his career. Clearly his finals performances grabbed our attention. (But) it wasn't just that," he said.

"We've attacked this trade period with specific needs and we think we can add to our back half, which might free up some of our young, developing half-backs who we think are mids - (Zak) Jones, (Callum) Mills, those types."
