Top draft prospect Max King has been stretchered off from a school game with a knee injury, Damian Barrett says.

LISTEN TO DAMO:

King, who is touted to be as high as a top three selection in the upcoming draft, collided with the behind post in a game for his school side Haileybury on Saturday morning.

The tall forward, who posted eight goals in a game earlier this month, was stretchered off the field.

There have been fears the injury could be serious, but Barrett says the hope is it's minor.

"We were talking about a kid from Haileybury, Max King...who has contacted the behind post in a game for Haileybury today," he said on Triple M.

"The hope is, as BT said, it's just a contact injury and nothing more than that."
