The NT News went viral yesterday for their front page on the Australian ball tampering saga, all thanks to the headline Why I've Got Some Sticky Near My Dicky.

Turns out it was the doing of a former Adelaide player.

Former Adelaide forward Ken McGregor, who spent 10 years at the club, is now the deputy editor of the paper, and revealed the headline was his brainchild.

“We’ve had some cracking headlines with a similar rhyme over the years, including two of our most famous ones - ‘Why I’ve Got A Cracker Up My Clacker’ and ‘Why I’ve Got A Packer Up My Clacker’,” he told NT News.

“I just started thinking about headlines starting with ‘Why I’ve Got’ and it just eventuated from there.”

Editor Matt Williams praised McGregor for the moment of genius.

“Kenny didn’t get many Brownlow votes during his AFL career but for this headline I’m giving him the three, the two and the one. Just brilliant!” he said.
