Geelong coach Chris Scott has confirmed Daniel Menzel and Steven Motlop will both return to their side to take on Richmond.

Both players have missed Geelong's last two games with knee and groin soreness respectively.

They will join Patrick Dangerfield as inclusions.

"Menzel and Motlop will play," Scott said on Thursday.

It will bolster a side that has lost skipper Joel Selwood to injury, plus Mitch Duncan and Tom Hawkins to suspension.

Scott said both players have hit their requirements and proved their fitness.

"We are very confident [they are ready] because we have been so clear on what our aims have been around their preparation through the last fortnight, and there were some benchmarks they needed to hit, and we weren't going to play them until they hit those benchmarks," he said.

"They have well and truly done that so we are very, very confident that, at the very least, they're in much, much better physical condition than when they played last."
