Wayne Carey is widely regarded as one of the all time greats of footy, so it may come as a surprise that he got dropped once in his career.

He explained what happened on the Rub ahead of today’s Anzac Day clash at the MCG, and the reason he had to sit out is quite bizarre.

“I got dropped in 1990 for a game for not having a job,” Duck explained.

“Dennis Pagan dropped you?” Damian Barrett asked.

“Nah, Schimma (Wayne Schimmelbusch),” Duck replied.

“He had a rule that you had to have a job.”

Howie went on to ask what job Duck got himself to get back into the side.

“I’m not sure what one… it didn’t last long anyway.

“It wasn’t that long after that then all of a sudden if you HAD a job you might get dropped!”

Clearly Duck was on the right side of history.
