Wayne Carey dropped some insight on Dustin Martin’s future on the Sunday Rub today.

The boys were talking about Richmond’s impressive win against West Coast at when the discussion turned to Dusty’s relative worth.

“The initial offer was 850 [thousand dollars] a year from Richmond, but Duck have they got to bump up that offer now?” Jay Clark asked Carey.

“The gap is closing… we thought Patrick Dangerfield was probably the number one player in the competition, [but] he’s had an outstanding start to the season Dusty.

“Have they got to pay a million plus for him now?”

Carey said that the market seems to be moving in that direction for Martin.

“I said on the first round after the Thursday night game they played here, albeit first game, he was absolutely brilliant,” Duck said.

“He’s worth what someone is willing to pay, it’s as simple as that.

“But the simple facts are, as far as I know, he’s been offered more at two other clubs than Richmond have already offered him.

“So they’re going to have to come up to that level, and my understanding is that is a million.”

When asked if the two clubs were based in Melbourne, Duck said “yes”.
