Wayne Carey says the Western Bulldogs are playing as poorly "as any team in the competition right now".

The Dogs slumped to a 59-point loss against the Crows on Friday night, leaving the club 10th on the ladder - and potentially lower with eight games still to play - and a 7-8 record.

Coach Luke Beveridge described as an "unacceptable" performance, and said the club was "gutted".

Duck seemed to agree.

"I still think, and I got asked this question last night," he said on the Saturday Rub.

"I think (last night) had more to do with the Bulldogs' performance than it did the Crows being so good."

He didn't hold back in his criticism.

"I think the Bulldogs are as poor as any team in the competition right now," he said.

"They've won one game by one point in the last five weeks, against North Melbourne who are sitting 17th on the ladder.

"Their form isn't great, so the Crows did to the Bulldogs what they probably should have done to them."
