Wayne Schwass has opened up on the battle with mental health, and it's an absolute must-listen.

The conversation has re-entered the footy world with Collingwood forward Alex Fasolo taking a break from the game to deal with depression.

Swatta, who starred for North Melbourne and Sydney across 15 years and has advocated for mental health, has opened up on his battle.

Listen to the audio:

"It's a conversation that affects everybody, and we should all be a part of it," he said.

"On the 1996 dais when I got my premiership medal from the great Jack Dyer with the Duck and 20 other teammates, I was thinking about how I could end my life."

To hear more from Swatta, check him out on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram.
