Ex-North Melbourne and Sydney star and now commentator Wayne Schwass has teed off on the Gold Coast Suns on Triple M’s coverage of their game against GWS at Spotless Stadium today.

The Giants kicked 7.4 to the Suns’ 1.2 in the first quarter, and Schwatta called the side out for a lack of effort towards the end of the term.

“Each of these 18 individual Gold Coast Suns players is playing for themselves right now,” he said.

“There's no instruction, there's no leadership, there's no game plan, and they're just thinking about self-preservation.”

Schwass said the players are not playing to the standard required of AFL players.

“This is AFL footy. You turn up to play a game of footy,” he said.

“It's not a privilege. You earn the right to play football, you play accordingly.

“There's no sugar coating the fact that the Gold Coast Suns are absolutely terrible right now in the opening term.”

The Sun trail at half time 10.8 (68) to 5.4 (34).
