West Coast defender Sam Butler has had his day ended by injury in the game against the Western Bulldogs.

The veteran injured his hamstring in the third quarter and had to go for treatment.

He was emotional on the bench, with his head in his hands as the severity of the injury hit him.

The doctors put the hamstring on ice, ending his involvement in the match.

Butler’s injury adds to the Eagles’ concerns, with Nathan Vardy and Sharrod Wellingham also playing under duress.

It hasn’t hurt them too badly, they lead the Dogs 11.13 (79) to 7.9 (51) at three quarter time.
