West Coast has confirmed ruckman Scott Lycett has dislocated his shoulder, an injury that likely dashes his hopes of featuring for the Eagles in round one.

Lycett was playing a practice match for East Perth in a last-minute bid to get himself fit for round one when he suffered the injury.

The 24-year-old laid a strong tackle late in the second quarter, but dislocated his left shoulder in the process and was helped from the field.

It was his first game of football since injuring his knee last September, and undergoing a posterior cruciate ligament reconstruction.

The club was waiting on the result of scans to confirm the extent of Lycett’s injury, according to West Coast general manager of football Craig Vozzo.

It is an injury that leaves the Eagles thin in the ruck department, with star Nic Naitanui to miss most of the season with a torn ACL.

The ruck load will likely be shouldered between Jonathan Giles, Drew Petrie and Nathan Vardy.
