The Western Bulldogs have officially appointed St Kilda administrator Ameet Bains as their new CEO.

Bains is the incumbent Chief Operating Officer and General Counsel at St Kilda, and is expected to take on his new role in December after completing his duties at the Saints.

Bains had been at St Kilda since 2011, starting as the General Manager of Player List and Legal Affairs and then moved on to his current role.

He was appointed by a panel including president Peter Gordon, vice-president Kylie Watson-Wheeler, Fiona McGauchie and Mark Evans.

“We had a broad range of well-credentialled candidates for the position, both from inside the AFL industry and from a range of other professions.  I’d like to thank them all for their interest,” Bulldogs’ President Peter Gordon told the club's website.

“We think that Ameet is ideally suited to our Club’s next stage of development, with his mix of legal, commercial, projects and football expertise.”

Bains said that he was “both honoured and humbled” with the appointment.

“The Club is well-positioned given its recent premiership success and accompanying commercial growth,” he said.

“I look forward to working with a very talented team in building upon this success.”
