Young Collingwood player Brayden Sier has copped a suspended $5000 fine for betting on footy games and events, according to AFL.com.au.

Sier apparently placed a number of bets totalling less than $50.

The AFL didn’t specify what Sier bet on, but players are prohibited from punting on events like the Rising Star and the Norm Smith Medal market.

None of the bets involved Collingwood, according to AFL general counsel Andrew Dillon.

Sier was caught after the AFL integrity department checked betting accounts.

"Mr Dillon said the player’s remorse and full co-operation during the investigation had been taken into account, along with the size of the wagers, and his sanction had therefore been suspended for a two-year period," the AFL said in a statement.

"The AFL continues to conduct regular integrity checks with all wagering partners on all players, coaches, administrators across the AFL competition as part its regulations in this area."

Sier came to the Pies with pick 32 in the 2015 draft and has yet to play a game.
