Geelong captain Joel Selwood has become the second two-time winner of the Triple M Footy Cbus Player of the Week for season 2017.

Selwood follows in the footsteps of his superstar teammate Patrick Dangerfield who also claimed his second Player of the Week gong in round nine.

In what was billed as the match of the round between third-placed Geelong and top-of-the-ladder Adelaide, Selwood did what he does best – lead from the front in inspirational fashion.

The triple premiership midfielder shrugged off a nasty cut to the side of his head, which required stitching up, to bring down the fearsome Crows at Simonds Stadium on Friday night with 35 disposals, 21 contested possessions, nine clearances, four tackles and a goal.

Selwood’s super performance helped draw his Cats level with Adelaide on eight wins and knocked them off top spot.
