For the fourth time this year, Geelong superstar Patrick Dangerfield has taken out the Triple M Footy Cbus Player of the Week.

The Brownlow Medalist’s latest accolade came on the back of his brilliant performance in the Second Semi-Final against Sydney on Friday night at the MCG.

Geelong coach Chris Scott sprung a surprise by starting Dangerfield up forward, and the move reaped immediate dividends.

The five-time All-Australian booted the Cats’ first two goals and by half-time he already had four goals to his name as he powered Geelong to a match-winning 36-point lead at the major break.

Dangerfield proved too much to handle for star Sydney defender Dane Rampe and finished the game with 26 disposals, an equal game-high 15 contested possessions, eight marks, a game-high four contested marks, four tackles and 4.3.

The 27-year-old’s heroics helped Geelong smash Sydney by 59 points and advance to a blockbuster preliminary final against Adelaide at Adelaide Oval on Friday night.

With four Triple M Footy Cbus Player of the Weeks to his credit this year, Dangerfield has double the next best Joel Selwood (two).

Geelong have now taken home the award on seven occasions this year, more than double the next best St Kilda (three).
