Geelong swingman Harry Taylor is the Triple M Footy Cbus Player of the Week for Round 21.
Taylor claimed the award for his sensational performance against Richmond on Saturday in their top-four showdown at Simonds Stadium.
The Cats headed into the encounter as underdogs without inspirational captain Joel Selwood (ankle) and suspended duo Tom Hawkins and Mitch Duncan.
But Taylor stood tall in Hawkins’ absence as he did a number on the competition’s best defender Alex Rance by recording 11 disposals, six marks (four contested) and a game-high four goals to steer his side to a memorable 14-point win.
It was arguably the Cats’ best win of the year and it shot them up to third spot on the ladder and two points shy of second-placed Greater Western Sydney.
Geelong and GWS do battle at the Cattery in Round 23 in what looms as a fight for a home final in the first week.
For the sixth time this time year, a Geelong player has won the Player of the Week with Patrick Dangerfield (three times) and Selwood (two) having also claimed the gong.
