Richmond superstar Dustin Martin is the Triple M Footy Cbus Player of the Round for round one following his magnificent performance against Carlton in the season opener on Thursday night.

Martin set the MCG alight with 33 disposals, 13 contested possessions, six clearances, six inside-50s, four tackles and four goals.

The 25-year-old brought his own ball to the game and was so clearly the best player on the ground, it was like watching a 16-year-old playing in the under-12s.

Carlton coach Brendon Bolton simply had no answers for Martin who tore the Blues to ribbons and was the main reason behind Richmond’s comfortable 43-point win.

‘Dusty’ was toying with Carlton so much that he even brought out the party tricks, as he unloaded a massive torpedo punt from centre-half back which ended up in the Tigers’ forward pocket, sending the crowd into raptures.

If ever a player was going to get all six Brownlow Medal votes, it would be Martin for his sensational first-up effort.
