St Kilda v Essendon

Friday night brings us an eight-point game in its truest form. St Kilda are more established in the top eight, but they're amongst a big pack, and dropping a game to Essendon will be costly. Likewise with the Bombers: they lose this and it might push them too far down the pecking order.

Crownbet odds:

St Kilda 1.68

Essendon 2.25

Geelong v Hawthorn

It's a long time in footy. Geelong's demolition job of Hawthorn back in round four seems like ages ago now - since then the Hawks have lost just four matches. They're a much better side now and in Luke Hodge's 300th game, they'll have their hearts set on redemption.

Crownbet odds:

Geelong 1.40

Hawthorn 3.00

Port Adelaide v North Melbourne

Port Adelaide really stamped themselves last week with a win over West Coast away, the sort of scalp they've been looking for. They've also got a damn good record against sides lower on the ladder. While North Melbourne haven't been terrible this year, Port Adelaide away seems like too much of a task.

Crownbet odds:

Port Adelaide 1.14

North Melbourne 6.00

Gold Coast v Collingwood

The Pies are 5-10, but judging by their ins this week - Daniel Wells and Darcy Moore the headliners - they're still gearing for the slimmest possible hope of finals footy. But the Suns' ins? Gary Ablett, Pearce Hanley, Aaron Hall...it might make things too tough for the embattled Magpies.

Crownbet odds:

Gold Coast 1.85

Collingwood 2.00

GWS v Sydney

It's a Sydney derby with massive bearings. The Giants are trying to secure their spot for contention, while the Swans are miraculously launching themselves into the same category. GWS do have home ground advantage, but Sydney's form is hard to resist. They've won eight of their past nine, while the Giants have won just once in five weeks.

Sydney by 10

Crownbet odds:

GWS 1.85

Sydney 2.00

Melbourne v Adelaide

The Dees stunned the Crows back in round eight, and they'll be backing themselves to make it two from two. They've got an impressive record away from the 'G: they're 7-1 away from home with their only loss with more scoring shots against the Cats. But the Crows will be out to redeem themselves, and should make this one close.

Melbourne by 5

Crownbet odds:

Melbourne 3.30

Adelaide 1.35

Richmond v Brisbane

Richmond was shellshocked last week against St Kilda, and will look to this clash as an opportunity to get things right. Brisbane can jump sides who aren't careful - just ask Fremantle and Essendon - so this is a good opportunity for Richmond to get their season back on track and stay in touch with the top four.

Richmond by 34

Crownbet odds:

Richmond 1.15

Brisbane 5.75

Carlton v Western Bulldogs

It's no secret the Dogs have slipped a fair bit this season. But have they slipped enough to drop a game to Carlton? The Dogs have one of the least efficient forward lines in the league, and it's up against a stingy Carlton defence. The Blues have played the 'G well this year, too. Expect this to be close.

Carlton by 5

Crownbet odds:

Carlton 2.60

Western Bulldogs 1.50

Fremantle v West Coast

West Coast desperately need a win on the board, and a derby against their bitter enemies in Fremantle won't make things any easier. The Dockers have smashed and grabbed some games this season and are definitely capable of doing it again on Sunday. The Eagles will be boosted plenty by the return of Josh Kennedy, though.

West Coast by 11

Crownbet odds:

Fremantle 3.10

West Coast 1.38
