West Coast v Sydney

No team has ever made the final 8 from 0-4, so Sydney will be looking to change their luck this weekend. They have an exceptional record against the Eagles - having won 9 of their last 10 contests - but their side should still be too inexperienced to beat a West Coast unit stinging from their upset against Richmond.

West Coast by 15

Crownbet odds:

West Coast 1.30
Sydney 3.65

North Melbourne v Western Bulldogs

The first ever Good Friday match is expected to be played in front of a packed Etihad Stadium this week. North Melbourne are desperately unlucky to be sitting winless heading into Round 4, and while they will likely deliver another competitive performance, it’s tough to go past the reigning premiers at ‘home’ following their shock loss against Fremantle.

Western Bulldogs by 34

Crownbet odds:

North 3.90
Bulldogs 1.26

Melbourne v Fremantle

Ross Lyon’s men finally delivered a performance that was expected of Fremantle for 2017 against the Bulldogs. It will be interesting to see how Melbourne bounce back from a tough loss to Geelong - and the prolonged absence of their All-Australian ruckman Max Gawn. If the Dockers play like last week, a boil-over could be on the cards, but the Demons should get the job done at the G.

Melbourne by 12

Crownbet odds:

Melbourne 1.32
Fremantle 3.45

GWS v Port

Canberra will play host to arguably the match of the round. Port Adelaide have been a revelation in 2017, but will be without Paddy Ryder against the Giants. It was only a year ago that GWS smashed the Power at the same venue, but Ken Hinkley’s side looks re-invigorated. It should be close, but the Giants are still flag favourites for a reason.

GWS by 20

Crownbet odds:

GWS 1.28
Port Adelaide 3.75

Carlton v Gold Coast

The Gold Coast Suns stunned the footy world with a faultless 86-point win over the Hawks at Metricon last weekend. It was a massive turnaround for a team that got smashed by 102 points the week before. Which Gold Coast rocks up this week is anyone’s guess. The Blues outfit showed some grit and determination to topple the Bomber last week - a team trait that Brendan Bolton will be desperate to hang onto.

Carlton By 8

Crownbet odds:

Carlton 2.15
Gold Coast 1.71

Adelaide v Essendon

Adelaide head into the match firing on all cylinders. They have rarely put a foot wrong this year highlighted last week with a hard fought win over cross town rivals Port Adelaide. The Bombers will looking to make amends for a scrappy lacklustre effort against the Blues last week which ended with their first loss for 2017.

Adelaide by 25

Crownbet odds:

Adelaide Crows 1.13
Essendon 6.00

Collingwood v St Kilda

Supporter groups for both these clubs are expecting finals footy in 2017. The road to the top 8 will become a lot more difficult for the loser of this clash, with both teams logging a 0-2 start to the year.

Collingwood by 23

Crownbet odds:

Collingwood 1.88
St Kilda 1.95

Brisbane Lions v Richmond

Brisbane haven’t beaten Richmond since 2009. A record that many expect will hold as the Tigers make the journey up to the Gabba. Brisbane have impressed some naysayers this year but will need to do more to top the in form Tigers.

Richmond by 34

Crownbet odds:

Brisbane 3.00
Richmond 1.39

Hawthorn v Geelong Cats

The next chapter in this great rivalry. The Hawks are staring down the barrel of a 0-4 start to the season - a foreign proposition for many loyal fans. The Cats however are flying high with a 3-0 record. Will the once mighty Hawks rally or face the stark reality of being a 2017 season bottom dweller.

Geelong by 50

Crownbet odds:

Hawthorn 2.90
Geelong 1.42
