Triple M Footy’s Jay Clark is reporting that Adelaide and Carlton are currently in discussions to trade Bryce Gibbs to the Crows.

Gibbs unsuccessfully attempted to be traded to Adelaide last year, despite still having three years left on his contract with Carlton.

Both clubs have been largely tight-lipped on any potential Gibbs deal in the last week-and-a-half, but it appears as though the former No.1 draft pick will get his wish before the 2017 AFL Trade Period ends at 2pm on Thursday.

“The deal as we understand it will be Bryce Gibbs to Adelaide, of course he is from South Australia, and the Crows will hand two first-round draft picks to Carlton,” Jay-Z said.

“So that’s possibly this year’s first-round draft pick and next year’s first-round draft pick and there might be a swap of second-round picks.

“Carlton will look to replenish its midfield with a couple of others. So Matthew Kennedy from GWS should come in and also Geelong’s Darcy Lang.

“So I think this is a very good deal for Carlton happening as we speak.”

Given Adelaide came so close winning a premiership this year, Gibbs could be seen as a crucial piece of the Crows’ plans to go one step better in 2018.

Gibbs has played 231 games for the Blues since debuting in 2007 and has been a very durable player, playing less than 20 games in a season on just one occasion (2015).
