Adelaide footy boss Brett Burton has cut to the chase on the future of Charlie Cameron, saying he is "a required player" at the Crows.

Cameron has a year to run on his current contract but has been linked to Brisbane in this year's trade period, with suggestions he could return home to Queensland.

Burton joined Triple M's Rush Hour with Jars and Louie and didn't say anything to suggest the forward was leaving.

"Charlie Cameron's contracted for 2018," he said.

"He's a required player and he's contracted for 2018."

The 23-year-old had a career best season in 2017, playing 24 of a possible 25 games as the Crows made the grand final.

He kicked 29 goals for the season - including five in Adelaide's preliminary final win over Geelong - and averaged 14 disposals, four inside 50s and four tackles a game.
