Port Adelaide star Chad Wingard has reportedly nominated Hawthorn as his preferred destination.

Multiple outlets reported late on Thursday that the 25-year-old had chosen Hawthorn as his club of choice.

The Hawks, after pipping the Dogs in the race, will now have to sort out a trade with the Power.

Hawthorn hold picks 15, 35 and 53 in this year's draft, as well as future picks.

Speculation had been quiet about Wingard's future, but Hawthorn and the Western Bulldogs were raised as the two teams in contention for his services.

Wingard has played 147 games for Port Adelaide, kicking 232 goals.

He has made the All-Australian team twice, in 2013 and 2015, as well as winning the John Cahill Medal as Port Adelaide's best and fairest in 2013.
