Triple M Footy’s Damian Barrett believes Brisbane Lions midfielder Tom Rockliff will end up at either Carlton or Port Adelaide.

Rockliff was replaced as club captain at the Lions by Dayne Beams this year.

And while Rockliff had another consistent season this year, it has long been rumoured that there are tensions between him and the club.

A fresh start now seems inevitable for the 27-year-old after he was reportedly close to being traded at the end of last season.

Damo also told Triple M's Rush Hour that Carlton are now in the box seat to recruit GWS star Devon Smith as Geelong are currently more focused on targeting Gold Coast champion Gary Ablett and Bulldogs forward Jake Stringer.

Smith isn’t the only Giant on the way out of Spotless Stadium, according to Damo, with midfielder Ryan Griffen potentially heading to Carlton as well as part of a package deal including Smith and Matt Kennedy.

Meanwhile, Damo believes Melbourne utility Jack Watts will be a “prominent” name in the upcoming trade period with both Watts and the Demons “open to exploring” where conversations with other clubs may go.
