Triple M Footy news breaker Damian Barrett says that Dayne Beams wants to come back to Melbourne to play for Collingwood.

Beams is contracted until 2020, but Damo says that the Pies are the only team Beams would want to break his deal for.

“Beams loves the Lions, there are just reasons now why he wants to break the contract he has and return to the Pies,” Barrett said on Trade Radio.

“And it’s only the Pies that he wants to return to.

“There’s no issue with the Lions. He couldn’t be more grateful of what the club has done for him.

“He just, in an ideal world, would like to return to Collingwood if the planets align.”

Damo said Brisbane won’t give Beams up without a fight though.

“As we know, there’s a contract there for 2019 and 2020 at the Lion,” he said.

“The Lions will be doing everything to keep Beams, and as Greg Swann has been saying, they intend to hold him to his contract.”

Beams was linked to a move back to the Pies earlier this year, but claimed at the Lions best and fairest that he would fulfil his contract.

“The one thing I kept coming back to was this group and you blokes and I bloody love youse,” he said at the event.

“The amount of support you’ve shown me over the last six months has been unreal … I can’t wait to see us progress as a team and a footy club.

“That was a real driving factor in me wanting to stay here and stick around and I love where we’re going and I love you boys.”

Beams left the Pies in the 2014 trade period to be closer to his ill father.

Tom Browne gave us an extensive wrap of all the movements on the third day of the trade period.
