Essendon have finally got their man with GWS star midfielder Dylan Shiel making his way to Tullamarine on the final day of the 2018 AFL trade period.

The Giants parted ways with Shiel and a future second-round pick in exchange for the Bombers’ pick 9 and future first-round pick.

But not before plenty of heartburn was caused for Essendon supporters as the two clubs took until 10 minutes before the deadline expired to agree to terms.

With Essendon probably lacking one more classy midfielder in their bid to become a top-four threat, Shiel is seen as the missing piece.

The 25-year-old made the All-Australian team in 2017 and has averaged 24 disposals in his 135 games for the Giants.

He also booted 64 goals in seven seasons with Greater Western Sydney.
