Triple M's Jay Clark says Essendon offered Richmond a pick swap to help them in the Jake Stringer trade, which the Tigers have turned down.

According to Clarky, Essendon offered picks 24 and 29 to Richmond for pick 15, which would have given them a higher pick to seal a trade for Stringer.

“There’s some interest around Richmond at the moment, because the Tigers have a chance to save the Jake Stringer deal to Essendon,” he told Triple M on Friday.

“The Bombers have picks 24 and 29 as it stands, and they have just offered those two picks to Richmond for pick 15."

Clark said the deal would benefit both sides, giving the Bombers a better pick to offer for Jake Stringer and the Tigers more points under the father-son bidding system.

“The advantage for Richmond in that deal is that they would get some extra draft points to help get father-son midfielder Patrick Naish," he said.

“What the Bombers could do is use pick 15, move that on to the Bulldogs to get Jake Stringer. I reckon the Bulldogs would be open to that."

So far, the answer from Richmond has been no.

“At the moment the Tigers have said no, they don’t want to do that deal, and that of course leaves Stringer in limbo, and if anything the door ajar for the Cats to get involved in this deal at the 11th hour," he said.

"At the moment (Geelong) have pick 21, and could also get pick 19 in return for Steve Motlop."
