The Western Bulldogs are going to have to accept picks 25 and 30 from Essendon in exchange for Jake Stringer, according to Triple M Footy’s Jay Clark.

The Bulldogs’ negotiations with West Coast have hit a snag and subsequently stalled Stringer’s passage to Tullamarine.

The Dogs are keen to receive a first-round pick for losing Stringer and, with Essendon trading theirs to GWS for Devon Smith, they have reportedly turned to the Eagles to satisfy their need.

The Bulldogs apparently planned to on-trade Essendon’s picks 25 and 30, plus a sweetener, to West Coast for the Eagles’ pick 13.

But it appears as though West Coast have cooled on the idea.

With the trade period ending in less than 21 hours, it leaves the Bulldogs with few options.

“The news is not so good for Jake Stringer,” Jay-Z said.

“There has been a late snag in discussions between the Bulldogs and the Eagles. So they are negotiating still but at the moment it seems like the Bulldogs will have to accept picks 25 and 30 from Essendon for Stringer or keep him against his wishes next season.

“Not so good news there for the Dogs.”

Stringer insisted before leaving for an overseas trip that there was next to no chance of him returning to Whitten Oval after the way the club has publicly spoken about him since the end of the season.

The Bombers have been one of the trade period’s biggest players, having already acquired GWS forward Devon Smith and dashing Gold Coast defender Adam Saad.
