Out of contract GWS midfielder Matt Kennedy has nominated Carlton as his preferred destination.

Kennedy, alongside teammates Devon Smith and Nathan Wilson, all requested a trade last Thursday.

His manager David Trotter confirmed Carlton was his club of choice.

"We can confirm Matt Kennedy has requested a trade to CarltonFC," he told AFL trade radio.

The 20-year-old found his way into GWS's line-up in his second season in 2017, playing 16 of a possible 25 games.

He averaged 17 disposals, five tackles and eight contested possessions a match.

The strong midfielder was drafted with pick 13 in the 2015 AFL draft, via GWS's academy.

If a trade is successful Kennedy will join former Giants such as Lachie Plowman, Caleb Marchbank, Jed Lamb, Jarrod Pickett and Rhys Palmer at the club.
