Tim Kelly will play for Geelong next season after failing to land a trade home.

Kelly could not be traded in the dying moments of the 2018 trade period, failing to complete his desire to return home to Western Australia.

The Eagles had reportedly offered up pick 20, pick 22 and their 2019 second round pick for Kelly, which the Cats denied.

Geelong’s demand reportedly included West Coast’s future first round pick.

“It’s disappointing for Tim,” West Coast’s Brady Rawlings told AFL trade radio.

“We rate Tim that highly that we had a fair bit on the table for the Cats.

“No doubt we’ll monitor Tim’s situation (over the next 12 months)…we’ll definitely be here and willing to talk.”

Kelly expressed his desire to return home after one year on Geelong’s list.

The 24-year-old was plucked from the WAFL with pick 24 in the 2017 national draft and starred in his first season at the Cats.

He played all 23 games, kicking 24 goals and being named the AFLPA best first year player.
