Triple M's Hot Breakfast footy reporter Tom Browne says one Victorian club has emerged out in front for Steven May's services.

BROWNE NAMES THE TEAM:

Collingwood, Hawthorn and Melbourne have all been in the mix for May, who is out of contract at the end of next season and could make his way out of Gold Coast.

While the Suns skipper has been linked to all three clubs, Browne believes Collingwood will slip out of the race, instead re-signing Tom Langdon and Darcy Moore.

"I think that Tom Langdon will re-sign with Collingwood imminently, as will Darcy Moore," he said on Thursday morning.

"My mail at this stage, Darce, is that Collingwood are going to back the players they've got and probably won't get May."

It leaves Melbourne, with the possible departure of Jesse Hogan, in "pole position", according to Browne.

"The Jesse Hogan story's just gathering momentum," he said.

"It'll put Melbourne in pole position to get Steven May."
