It’s fair to say that the University of Connecticut have dominated women’s college basketball in the States since the turn of the millennium.

They’ve won 10 NCAA championships since 2000, including the last four straight.

Amongst that run of championships they’d also managed to go 111 unbeaten until their semi final game against Mississippi State today.

The match went to overtime after scores were tied at 60 apiece at full time, and it looked like a second period of OT was about to happen when both teams were on 64 with a few seconds to play.

And then Mississippi State’s Morgan William drove inside the three-point line with just a second left and the put up a basket to take her team to a 66-64 win as the buzzer went.
