A plane carrying NBA side Oklahoma City Thunder has copped a massive dent during its landing, apparently caused by a bird.

Thunder players, who were on the flight from Minneapolis to Chicago, posted photos of the plane on social media after they landed, which had its nose caved in.

Thunder star Russell Westbrook was pleased everything was okay.

"You never take anything for granted, just be thankful and blessed they were able to land the plane and everything was OK," he said.

"Stuff like that just shows you how you need to cherish life and understand the important things in life and embrace every moment."

Carmelo Anthony was stunned.

"What possibly could we have hit in the SKY at this time of night?" he wrote. "Everyone is safe, though."

Kiwi player Steven Adams asked the right people, tagging NASA, Neil DeGrasse Tyson and Bill Nye the Science Guy in his tweet.

"We had a rough flight to say the least," he tweeted. "30,000 feet in the air. Flying to Chicago. What caused this?"
