Australian Patty Mills played a small but important role in the San Antonio Spurs’ 104-92 victory over the two-time defending champion Golden State Warriors on Sunday (US time).

Mills racked up eight points, five rebounds, five assists and a steal from just over 24 minutes of court time.

Star centre LaMarcus Aldridge was the star for the Spurs, registering 24 points, 18 rebounds and two blocks in a dominant display, while DeMar DeRozan recorded 20 points, nine assists and six rebounds.

Kevin Durant was Golden State’s best with 26 points, 10 rebounds and six assists while Klay Thompson also chimed in with 25 points.

After starting the season all guns blazing with 11 wins from their first 13 games, the Warriors are now in a huge slump having lost four of their last five games amid reports of locker room tensions between two of their best players Durant and Draymond Green.

Stephen Curry and Green both missed the game against the Spurs due to injury.
