A group of cricket’s biggest names took to the snowy Swiss Alps for the Ice Cricket Challenge last night.

Teams captained by Virender Sehwag and Shahid Afridi faced off on a frozen lake in St Moritz, playing on an artificial pitch.

Aussies Mike Hussey and Andrew Symonds played on Sehwag’s team, while other big names involved included Jacques Kallis, Shahid Afridi, Shoaib Akthar and Lasith Malinga.

The pitch set into a field of snow made for a striking look:

The players weren’t badly affected by the conditions, with Owais Shah hitting five sixes in his 74, while Sehwag also carted five maximums on his way to 62.

Afridi’s team won the match, chasing down Sehwag’s side’s 164 with around five overs to spare.

The second of the games is on tonight Australian time.
