The Australian Cricketers Association has called for the immediate lifting of the bans handed down to Steve Smith, David Warner and Cameron Bancroft, asking to "let them play".

In a press conference on Tuesday, the ACA called for the bans to be "recalibrated" in light of the new evidence found in the Longstaff review.

The review found that Cricket Australia's culture played a part in the ball-tampering scandal, which has seen Smith, Warner and Bancroft miss six months out of a 12-month ban so far.

"We believe what the focus should be is that the sanctions were handed down without the understanding of the climate and the culture that the team were involved in," ACA CEO Alastair Nicholson said.

"This is now a real factor in that what happened at Newlands was contributed by the factor of the whole organisation.
