Disappointed at not going to India

Young leg-spinner Adam Zampa has taken a shot at the Australian selectors after being overlooked for the upcoming tour of India.

The selectors opted not to take Zampa, instead plumping for four spin options in rookie Mitchell Swepson, incumbent Nathan Lyon and left-armers Steven O’Keefe and Ashton Agar.

Glenn Maxwell is also in the in side as a spin-bowling all-rounder.

Speaking ahead of tomorrow’s ODI against Pakistan at the SCG, Zampa said he would be suited to playing in India.

"It's disappointing being seen as just a defensive option," Zampa told Fairfax Media

"I thought that the defensive style of bowling usually works in those conditions and my experience over there could've helped.

"There's not much you can really do about it, the selectors have gone for a more attacking option.”

Zampa was full of praise for Swepson, however.

"Mitchell Swepson's a very good bowler,” he said.

“I’ve watched him throughout the BBL and it's going to be nice to have that healthy competition with him for however many years."
