David Warner and Travis Head's massive opening partnership was one for the ages.

The duo put on a whopping 284 runs together in Adelaide on Australia Day, putting Pakistan to the sword and setting the Aussies up for a whopping total of 7/369.

Their 284-run partnership is the highest for any wicket for Australia, surpassing a 260-run stand by Warner and Steve Smith against Afghanistan in the 2015 World Cup.

It was just two runs short of the highest opening stand in ODI history, with Sri Lankans Sanath Jayasuiya and Upul Tharanga piling on 286 against England in 2006.

Warner also reached his highest score in ODI cricket, scoring 179 - just higher than the 178 he scored against Afghanistan.

It is the third-highest ODI score by an Australian, falling short of Shane Watson (185*) and Matthew Hayden (181*).

Australia's 7/369 is the highest score posted at Adelaide, breaking a record held by the West Indies.

They smashed 4/339 in Adelaide in 2005 - also against Pakistan.

Pakistani seamer Hasan Ali also reached an unwanted record, becoming just the third bowler to concede 100 runs in an ODI in Australia.

His 2/100 came off just nine overs, and are the third most expensive figures here ever.
